I would like to officially announce the start of the “Teal Spiel,” the first ever weekly San Jose Sharks weekly call-in radio show.
It will be every Saturday from 5:00pm - 6:30 pm (unless it conflicts with a Sharks game). It starts this Saturday, September 29, at 5:00pm pacific.
The broadcast can be heard on KNTS 1220 AM, but can be heard anywhere on the internet www.1220knts.com. If you want to help keep the show alive, it is best for everyone to listen on www.1220knts.com if possible.
Each week there is GUARANTEED to be a Sharks player, coach, member of management, or Sharks commentator as a guest. Because of the day of the show, the interviews need to be taped beforehand. BUT you can still get your questions in, just e-mail them to tealspiel@gmail.com. Make sure you specify who the question is for. You can also use this e-mail to suggest topics for the upcoming shows and also give comments. The hosts may read questions/comments on air if you wish.
Patrick Marleau is the guest on the first show. Next week the guest has been confirmed to be Joe Pavelski. It’s too late for Marleau questions, but get those Q’s in for JoePa! Ron Wilson will be a guest sometime in November. One of the hosts is good friends (And works for) Dan Rusanowski, so expect Russo and Jamie Baker to make appearances.
The show is an hour and a half each week of Sharks discussion with ample opportunity for listeners to call in and weigh in on the topic at hand. It should be lots of fun and will be a great place besides message boards to get Sharks talk going.
One thing though: The show still needs more advertising to last long term. They’ve got a few Sharks related businesses (Stanley’s and Sharks Ice), but they need more. They have some dirt cheap packages for anyone wanting to get ads out to the Sharks fan community. Call Matthew Pearce at (510) 521-5100 and he’ll set you up.
